Freedom is the secret to happiness

“The secret to happiness is freedom, the secret to freedom is courage” ~ Thucydides

As we prepare to celebrate Fourth of July this Wednesday, the word “freedom” is the star. It all started with the Declaration of Independence, a document that promotes equality and freedom. But we shouldn’t stop there, we shouldn’t think and celebrate freedom on that day only.

Freedom is about being able to dream, plan and take action every single day. It’s being able to learn, make mistakes, flourish, grow, and celebrate our daily life. Freedom can have many interpretations, you may see it in a different way from mine: maybe you desire to be financially free, or physically free, pain-free, guilt free, judgment free, free of worries, free to say whatever you want, or free to express yourself without limitations.

This year, when you celebrate Fourth of July with your family and friends, make a promise to yourself about the type of freedom you want in your life. Keep that promise to yourself in front of you every single day, and put it into practice every single day. Don’t let others take it away from you. It takes courage to earn freedom but it will be well worth the effort.

Happy Independence Day!

Good thoughts and words Sabrina, from the outside looking in there’s a country celebrating while the majority of its population are still waiting for the equality marched for 50+ years ago. Sad really to see so many ignored, I know it takes time but my lifetime has show inequality in so many areas looks to improve but the reality is never what it seems.

We live in hope that humanity for each other is put first not last as it so often is by those in control.

Thank you for your comment, Mark! Yes, absolutely true – It seems like our society is going back instead of moving forward with equality, and it’s truly sad. We never learn from history, we never learn from those mistakes of the past…
