Goal setting 2.0

“Life is such that beginnings and endings are neither. For in fact, they perpetually lay the groundwork for the other.” ~ Craig D. Lounsbrough

Goal setting is a huge topic at the end of every year and at the beginning of the new year – not only for business people but for everyone – and for a good reason. When you set goals you create a map that will help you stay focused and reach your destination, whatever that may be (personal, health-related, financial, spiritual, etc.).

I think it’s extremely important to know what your goals are every year, but I often notice a disconnect between goals from the previous year and new goals. I started noticing this pattern when coaching my clients. They would set great goals for their year, and then they would move on to a different area in their personal life or in their business, and start all over again in the new year. Not many decided to continue, upgrade, or to expand on their goals. And it happens more often than you think.

I believe the goals you set and achieve become part of your journey in life, they change or transform you on some level, and you should keep them as part of your development, of your growth. Don’t stop at the destination once you accomplish them and you reward yourself for the commitment. Instead, look at them as a learning experience, analyze the results, and use them as a foundation to grow, to improve, to evolve. Think of your 2019 goals as your 2018 Goals 2.0. Now that you achieved them, what’s next? What can you get from them and make them better? How far can you go with them? Is there anything that you can expand or add, and get more or better results? It doesn’t have to be that way for all of your goals. Just start with one accomplished goal from 2018 and expand on it.

I have an accomplished goal from 2018 (writing my book, more HERE, HERE, and HERE) that I used to expand on one of my 2019 goals: publish my book. It’s one step further, it’s a continuation, it shows the progress, and I have a new finish line to work on now. Soooo exciting!
