As you probably know or you learned in my previous videos, the stress response is a normal reaction of our brain and body to things that happen around us. This is simply done to protect us from danger and threats. Today, these can be a change in our routine, unexpected news, a tight deadline, a certain food, a difficult relationship … there can be numerous triggers affecting us during the day. When this happens, our brain and body activate certain mechanisms and, when the threat is over, everything returns to normal.
Also, stress is good for us, it’s not always the bad guy, as it can promote effort, growth, and motivate us to take action. However, when stress is prolonged and unmanaged, and we are unable to cope with the demands of daily life, it can harm us physically, mentally, and emotionally. And, over time, an overactive stress response can lead to chronic illness. Therefore, it is very important to recognize those warning signs to avoid long-term health issues.
