Insomnia: Uncovering sleep disruptors and solutions (Video) – Your Monthly Dose

We all know that quality sleep is crucial for good health and well-being as our bodies undergo various changes and carry out important functions such as regulating hormone production, repairing damaged tissues, recharging energy levels, and more.

Unfortunately, many of us are not able to get the restful sleep we need, and we experience insomnia, a sleep disorder that can be short-term or long-term, and it has detrimental effects on mental and physical well-being, causing fatigue, difficulty concentrating, irritability, impaired coordination and memory, overeating, heightened pain sensitivity, a weakened immune system, and increased risk of chronic health issues like heart disease, stroke, and obesity.

Identifying the causes of insomnia can be challenging because it can be caused by a wide range of factors. While some common causes such as stress, anxiety, and poor sleep habits are well-known, there are indeed some less commonly recognized factors that can contribute to insomnia. So, it’s important to listen to your body, and play detective to find the root cause – or causes – if you want to give your body – and brain – sufficient rest to reset and recharge.
