My word for 2025: GROWTH
Have you chosen your word of the year yet? If not, that’s okay! Picking a word of the year can be a simple yet powerful way to stay focused on what matters most throughout the year. If you’ve never tried this before, I have a video that walks you through the process and offers some alternative approaches to find the perfect word for your journey.
My word of the year for 2025 is GROWTH. This word carries deep meaning as I reflect on the continuous evolution that shapes every aspect of our lives. It also connects deeply with a personal goal I’ve set for this year (more on that below). Growth is my anchor, my guide, and my motivation for what lies ahead, and I hope it inspires you to reflect on what growth could mean in your own life, too.
The Personal side of growth: Going gray
This year, I’ve set an ambitious (or audacious) goal for myself: transitioning to my natural gray hair. Initially, I told myself it was because I was tired of coloring my hair every month, and that’s true. But even though it might look like a simple change in appearance for me it represents authenticity, resilience, and natural beauty. It symbolizes freedom from external validation, the courage to celebrate who I truly am, and honoring my authentic self.
This journey – letting my hair grow into its natural gray – can be a metaphor for the journey of life, accepting and celebrating change, discovering truths about ourselves.
Growth beyond the personal
Growth can be useful for personal goals, but it’s also a mindset. There’s no ultimate destination or point of arrival in our lives. Every day we have opportunities to learn something new about ourselves, others, and the world around us. Each discovery enriches us, empowering us to live life more fully and contribute more meaningfully to those around us.
In my work as a holistic life and well-being coach, I see this constantly. Growth is the thread that connects us all. It’s the willingness to show up for ourselves, it’s the courage to dream bigger, reach higher, and continuously evolve because growth brings us closer to the best version of ourselves. Growth is how we reach our potential and, as a result, inspire others to do the same.
Why growth should matter for everyone
Growth is for everyone, regardless of where you are in life. It doesn’t require massive ambition or monumental goals. Growth can be subtle: a shift in mindset, a small change in routine, or a new sense of self-compassion. It’s about moving forward, even in tiny steps, and recognizing that every step matters.
This year, I invite you to join me: Think about what growth could mean for you in 2025. Where do you want to stretch yourself? What layers do you want to shed? What steps, big or small, can you take to enrich your life and empower those around you? Strive for growth in all its forms, because life is not about arriving; it’s about growing. And in growth, we find our strength, our beauty, and our true selves.
