I was a guest on the #WinnieSun Twitter Chat
I recently had the privilege to chat with the #WinnieSun community on Twitter as a guest. The host, Winnie Sun, is a financial advisor, speaker, and founding partner of Sun Group Wealth Partners, a financial consulting firm. She’s a regular contributor to Forbes, Good Day LA, and Fox News. Winnie has appeared on the biggest business programs and channels in the country, including CNBC, ABC, CBS, Fox Business, hot finance startup Cheddar, and dozens of local network affiliates to help viewers better understand their money.
After being a huge fan of Winnie’s on social media for years, I finally met her at Social Media Marketing World in 2019. She organized a very intimate dinner, and I was invited! It was such a great experience to learn more about her awesomeness. I could spend hours listening to her! And she is even more GORGEOUS in person!
She started #WinnieSun and grew a fantastic community on Twitter over a few years, happening on Twitter on Wednesdays at 11 am Pacific / 2 pm Eastern.
The topic for the chat was “Mindful Moments” and I was a panelist with Dr. Rashmi Bismark, board-certified in Preventive Medicine, with passion and expertise from prevention, community health, health behavior, lifestyle medicine, and complementary & alternative therapies. She joined as a contributor to Yoga Medicine, a global community of teachers trained in the fusion of science & research with traditional practices & experience.
If you missed the chat, no worries! Below is the recap for you. Lots of great insights and tips about mindfulness!

— Sabrina Cadini, CHLC, CBFC – Your Life Upgrader (@SabrinaCadini) August 12, 2020
A2a.2 I hope the “trendy moment” these age-old traditions are having will continue to thrive in popular culture and Western science. #WinnieSun

A13. I think we are much better communicators and friends when we take the time to truly have self-awareness. And, we continue to self-reflect, self-examine, and mindfully practice getting to know ourselves and helping us grow to be the best versions of ourselves. #WinnieSun☀️

A13 – As #mindfulness helps us be more present & attentive (we connect more w/ our partner or loved ones), it’s no surprise that it allows us to control emotions (less arguing) and it makes us more empathic (we understand their perspectives).#WinnieSun #LifeWorkBalance

A13a – One way that really helped me improve relationships was related to communication. I used to react to words or actions more impulsively, but now I take time to choose my words carefully while using my calm tone to lower tension. #WinnieSun #LifeWorkBalance #Mindfulness

A13 Yes, by being mindful, you are able to communicate with empathy and most of all, to listen well. #WinnieSun

A13a. One of my teachers shares the practice of Insight Dialogue where you practice exploring difficult discussions after a period of silent meditation together. Formally practicing mindful listening is powerful. #WinnieSun

A13b. When I can be present and pay attention with patience and trust, the interaction with another person becomes less about winning an argument, and more about listening and understanding each other more fully. #WinnieSun

Q14. Give us a quick tip! Falling into burnout and old stressed out patterns is a slippery slope. What is something you can do in just a quick minute or two, that you can do anywhere to help you realign your mindset? #WinnieSun pic.twitter.com/ihtJNdRlRD

A14. A tip would be just to get away and do something low tech that you enjoy. It could be as simple as taking a walk, driving around (ok maybe a little tech), lying on a yoga mat and thinking of nothing, or just spending time with people that fill your soul. #WinnieSun☀️

It's about respecting our basic needs as human beings 🙂 #WinnieSun

A14 – First tip: Use your breathing as an anchor. Whenever you feel something is off, stop what you’re doing and take some full inhalations and exhalations (with longer exhalations as this will automatically relax your nervous system). #WinnieSun #LifeWorkBalance #Mindfulness
— Sabrina Cadini, CHLC, CBFC – Your Life Upgrader (@SabrinaCadini) August 12, 2020
A14a – Second tip: Focus on one thing at a time even if you’re tempted to multitask. Our brain simply can’t engage in more than one activity, you’re actually switching from one task to another, using up a lot of energy. #WinnieSun #LifeWorkBalance

A14a. Whatever it be, let it be, reduce stress, rid yourself of negative thoughts, and be at peace. #WinnieSun☀️

a14) Recognizing that you're in a spiral is probably the best thing. Too often people don't recognize the signs and get sucked into a bad train of thought or mood. The faster you notice, the sooner you can start to change directions. #WinnieSun

A14.1 We all have positive resources within ourselves we may not have cultivated a relationship with yet that can be soothing. It might be finding comfort in the breath, in an inspiring word, or simply placing a hand on the heart or lower belly… #WinnieSun
— Yoga Medicine (@yoga_medicine) August 12, 2020
A14.2 …Or maybe it’s a combination of all of the above! I know I love placing a hand just beneath my navel. I focus on the breath, feeling my lower abdomen move with my hand. With an inbreath I quietly whisper “Here,” in my mind. With a slow outbreath, “I am peace.” #WinnieSun

A14 Attitude, see the blessings around you, find what is good in a negative day and most of all stay away from negative people and things. Center yourself around positive people and places as much as possible. #WinnieSun
